KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Two off-season acquisitions paid off in their debuts for the Wizards in a 2-0 victory over DC United.

Ivan Trujillo and Claudio Lopez both scored second-half goals for the Wizards to christen the Wizards' transitional home, CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Trujillo scored the first goal in the ballpark in the 47th minute with a nice finish of of a ball set up by Michael Harrington and Jack Jewsbury.

Harrington flighted a ball from the left wing to Jewsbury in the right side of the penalty area. Jewsbury played it first-time into the path of Trujillo, who deflected it with his right foot past DC United goalie Zach Wells.

Lopez followed in the 61st minute when he chipped a shot over the on-rushing Wells. Lopez beat the offside trap and took Ryan Pore's pass just outside the left edge of the penalty area.

The game settled down a bit in the second half. The Wizards had four shots on goal compared to seven in the first half, but the shots in the second half were of much more quality.

Lopez had a good chance to put the Wizards ahead as early as the fourth minute, but blasted Carlos Marinelli's pass high over the goal about 12 yards away in the left side of the area.

Lopez was closer to the target in the 37th minute, hitting a sharp left-footed shot about two feet wide right.

Luciano Emilio forced Wizards goalkeeper Kevin Hartman into a diving save in the 34th minute with a shot from the top of the area. DC United had only three shots on target for the game, none in the second half.
