Wizards change game time
to accomdate KU game

April 1, 2008

Yes, it is April Fool's Day. No, it is not a joke.

The Wizards announced Tuesday that the start time of their home game Saturday against Colorado has been moved to 4 p.m.

The original 7 p.m. start time would have forced Wizards fans who are also University of Kansas basketball fans to choose between the two events.

Kansas plays North Carolina in the semifinal round of the NCAA Tournament in a game scheduled to begin at 7:47 p.m., Central Time, in San Antonio, Texas.

"Many of our supporters also have a vested interest in Kansas basketball, and we want them to enjoy two high-quality sporting events on Saturday," Wizards president Robb Heineman said.

The change in game time is also good news for two former Tar Heels who play for the Wizards, Michael Harrington and Kerry Zavagnin. It is not quite as good news for the four former UCLA Bruins: Jimmy Conrad , Kevin Hartman, Chance Myers and Sasha Victorine. The Bruins play Memphis in the other semifinal, scheduled to begin at 5:07 p.m.

Instead of peeking at the game before they play, the UCLA contingent will be able to enjoy the second half after the Wizards and Rapids finish.
