KANSAS CITY, Kan. - All of the action was in the first half this time, but New England had the better of it Wednesday in a 3-1 victory over the Wizards at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Although the Wizards suffered their first loss of the season, they put up a very good fight in both halves. The Revolution took advantage of a Wizards own goal and free kick in the first half that helped them craft a two-goal lead at halftime.

The Wizards are now tied with New England in the Eastern Conference with six points from three games. Kansas City entertains MLS Cup holders Houston on Saturday.

The Revolution received a good break that gave them the game's first goal. A New England free kick from the left wing deflected off Wizards midfielder Jack Jewsbury and into the Kansas City goal in the 12th minute.

Jewsbury made most of his chance for redemption when he scored from the penalty spot to tie the game in the 28th minute.

Keith Morsink was fouled in the penalty area by New England's Shalrie Joseph after a good attack by the Wizards ended with Scott Sealy's shot saved.

But New England added two more goals to take a 3-1 halftime lead.

Khano Smith broke free with the ball on the left wing past rookie defender Jonathan Leathers crossed the right side of the area, where Sainey Nyassi slotted a shot into the net in the 33rd minute.

The Revolution scored again in the 40th minute when Kenny Mansally picked a free kick out of the mixer near the penalty spot and shot into the goal. The Wizards had given up a free kick near the halfway line close to the right touchline.
